Lavox Meet Capture Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-16
This policy covers the Chrome extension only. For the Lavox service as a whole (desktop app, cloud dashboard, account data), see the Lavox Privacy Policy.
What this extension does
Lavox Meet Capture is a companion to the Lavox desktop application. It detects when you join or leave a Google Meet call and relays meeting information to the Lavox app so your meeting can be recorded and transcribed.
What data is processed
While you are on a meet.google.com page, the extension reads:
- the meeting code and page title,
- participant display names shown in the call,
- the active speaker indicator,
- Google Meet caption text (only if captions are enabled by you).
Where the data goes
- To your own computer: join/leave events and the metadata above are sent to the Lavox desktop app running locally on your machine at
http://127.0.0.1:5192. This traffic never leaves your device. - To your own Lavox account: when you open the Lavox dashboard (
lavox.appor a local dashboard), the extension may forward the meeting data it collected so it appears in your account. - Local browser storage: meeting events are cached in the browser's local storage and automatically deleted after 48 hours.
The extension does not sell your data, does not share it with advertisers, and does not transmit it to any third party other than the Lavox services you yourself use.
Data you control
All recording, transcription, retention and deletion is controlled by you through the Lavox app and your Lavox workspace. Uninstalling the extension stops all data processing immediately.
Permissions
- storage: to remember meeting events between page reloads and power the status badge.
- meet.google.com: to detect meeting join/leave and read the metadata above.
- 127.0.0.1:5192: to talk to the Lavox desktop app on your own machine. No remote server is contacted through this permission.
