Terms of Service

Last updated: August 14, 2026

The short version

Lavox records and transcribes your meetings on your own computer, and syncs them to the cloud only if you turn that on. You own your recordings. You are responsible for recording lawfully, including getting consent from participants where the law requires it. The service is a free beta today, provided as is. Questions: hello@lavox.app.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Lavox: the Lavox Hub desktop application for macOS, the web dashboard at app.lavox.cloud, and related services (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Tátra 99 Kft. ("Lavox", "we", "us"); full company details are in the Company information section below. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

1. What the Service does

Lavox Hub records meetings on your own computer (your microphone, your system audio, and optionally your webcam) and creates a transcript locally on your device. If you enable cloud sync, finished recordings and transcripts are uploaded to your account and shown in the web dashboard. Optional AI features (such as summaries and an AI-assisted speaker identification step) are switched off by default and, when enabled, run through an API key you provide yourself.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
  • The information you give us (name, email address) must be accurate and kept up to date.
  • Keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us at hello@lavox.app if you suspect unauthorised use.

3. Acceptable use and recording responsibility

Recording happens on your device and is started by you. You are solely responsible for making sure every recording complies with the laws that apply to you and to the people you record. Depending on where you and the other participants are located, the law may require you to notify participants that a meeting is being recorded, or to obtain their consent; for example, some jurisdictions (including several US states) require the consent of all parties to a recording. It is your obligation to give any required notice and obtain any required consent before you record. Lavox does not and cannot verify that participants have been informed or have consented. If you are unsure whether you may lawfully record a conversation, do not record it.

You also agree not to:

  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to record people covertly where that is prohibited;
  • upload content that infringes someone else's rights or that you have no right to process;
  • probe, disrupt or circumvent the security of the Service, or access other users' data;
  • resell the Service or make it available to third parties as your own offering;
  • place unreasonable load on the Service through automated means.

4. Your content

Your recordings, transcripts, voice profiles and other data remain yours. We claim no ownership of them. So that we can operate the Service, you grant Tátra 99 Kft. a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, reproduce and display your content, solely to the extent needed to provide the Service to you. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for the short period our rotating backups need to expire (up to 7 days). We do not use your content for advertising and we do not sell it.

You are responsible for the content you record and upload, including having the right to process the voices and images of the people who appear in it.

5. Free beta, changes and availability

The Service is currently offered free of charge as a beta. That has consequences you should understand:

  • the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without any promised service level;
  • features may change, be suspended or be removed as the product evolves;
  • we may discontinue the Service or the beta; if we do, we will give you reasonable advance notice and the opportunity to export your data before it is deleted;
  • paid plans may be introduced later under separate terms; you will never be moved onto a paid plan without your explicit agreement.

Transcripts and AI-generated summaries are produced automatically and may contain errors. Do not rely on them as your only record of a conversation where accuracy is critical.

6. Warranties and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we exclude all implied warranties, and our total liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim (which, during the free beta, is zero).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you keep all rights granted by the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence; these Terms do not limit those rights in any way.

7. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time, and you may ask us to delete your account and all associated data by emailing hello@lavox.app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms; where reasonable, we will warn you first. When your account is closed, by you or by us, your data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. If a change is material, we will notify you in advance by email or through the Service. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, that constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and request deletion of your account.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Hungary. If you are a consumer in the European Union, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and it does not restrict your right to bring proceedings before the courts designated by EU consumer-protection rules.
